Rick is the founder and senior partner of Derrick Financial Group, a family operated financial services firm.  As a financial advisor for Park Avenue Securities, Rick has over 30 years of experience in the industry and specializes in coordinating insurance products with the estate and retirement planning goals of his clients.

Rick has completed comprehensive training in financial products, planning, and services through the American College, where he has received 2 highly respected industry designations, Charter Life Underwriter(CLU ®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC ®). 

Prior to founding Derrick Financial Group, Rick was an instructor pilot in the Air Force.  He flew T-38's in Del Rio, Texas  for 4 years before moving to the DC area to start his financial services career at Wallace Financial Group.  Subsequently, he founded Derrick Financial Group after moving to the Annapolis area in 1978.

Rick has been involved in the community for many years, serving as the Finance Director of his church, Galesville United Methodist, for over 5 years.  Additionally he has served on the Owensville Medical Center Board for over 10 years as the finance manager.  He also is a member of the South Anne Arundel County Rotary.  Rick is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and currently resides in Galesville.  He enjoys many hobbies, which include sailing, beekeeping, and sports.  He has three children, Kate, Drew, and Lee, as well as six grandchildren, Will, Emma Kate, Nolan, Hal, Hank, and Tess.
